Growing up as a skateboarder, and in my career as an engineer, movement has meant function and flow, success or failure. Throughout my life, movement has been a way to captivate an audience or make gadgets work properly. Essentially, it has shaped my career and artwork, and plays a pivotal role in my jewelry designs. Since the beginning, movement has been how I express myself. In a way, it's my muse.
To capture the beauty of my work, I use fine gemstones and metals in my designs. I use them to captivate a viewer, or audience, by adorning the human body with pieces that fit "just so" and move "just right" to capture light. Observers of my pieces have their eyes drawn to a necklace, for example, when the metal and stones reflect light and color as the adorned is in motion. When she moves, so does the light; she is naturally beautiful and actually feels it.
I have a collection, meant to flatter all, but I also take commissions. Through my custom work, I get to facilitate self-expression of my client by listening and bringing to life their innermost thoughts. Which are each unique. These custom designs are some of my favorite ways to produce because they're intimate and often tell a story as well as move exactly for her/him. Together, we become intimately involved in the custom design process as the client navigates the direction for the design, and I create or "drive". Doing it this way eliminates the mystery and the personal service they receive from the artist really makes the experience special.
All in all, my clients enjoy my jewelry because it’s clean, elegant, fine and wearable. Past clients have said they feel empowered, sensual, alluring, adored, magical, fashionable and especially with my custom designs, seen and heard. Movement has always been a part of my life and I have found a way to make both the observer and the wearer feel something because of it as a jewelry designer.
